DESCRIPTION This hostel is very reasonably priced at 430 czk,per night peak season (apr-sep), which translates to a bit over 8.60 a night. whilst this definitely isn't the cheapest hostel you'll find it is in a good location. it is position at the north of nova mesto which is just below stare mesto (the main tourist & nightlife area). it is also only two road away from the river, vltava and easy to find once you've been there once.
the hostel seems to have 8 rooms, with between three and seven beds in each. the rooms are plain affairs, with high ceiling and white walls (that curiously comes off on whatever touches them), this means that your unlikely to stay there longer than when actually sleeping. they will provide you with blankets if you require them, although i used my sleeping bag (otherwise it would of been a waste of time bring it).
there is one shower and one toilet for each sex. this can lead to some quite lengthy waits in the morning (esp. if the person before you decides
There is also a reception area where they serve breakfast and have lockers. breakfast consists of a couple of pieces of break with butter, cheese and jam, a yogurt and tea or coffee. whilst this may not sound amazing it is very nice to know you haven't got to think about finding food first thing in the morning. the lockers in reception are wooden and you askconstructions ever, the reception is never left open when its not attended so they are quite safe (i left my passport, cashcard and money there and they were safe).
good news is that the hostel doesn't operate a curfew. bad news is that you have to ring a bell every time you want to get in the front door (and sometimes to get out!). This means that you tend to try and keep your in and outgoings to a minimum or end up feeling guilty for getting people to run up and downstairs for you. for a padlock at the desk, whilst these are not the most sturdy It is possible to book in advance, however we were unlucky and they lost our reservation. But on the first night in Prague they had room for us.
We then left Prague for three days and were told that they couldn't provide a room when we got back but they would help us locate one. When we returned to Prague it turned out that they did have room and it would just require us to change rooms after the first night, which made our day. Overall, I'd recommend Klub Habitat for those looking to stay cheap and central in Prague, I think if I go back I'll try and stay there again. The faciliies are basic but clean and perfectly adequete.
